The Accurist Watch Brand
Accurist was established in London in 1946 by Rebecca and Asher Loftus. They set out to establish a credible, quality brand at value price points. All Accurist watches were and are assembled from Swiss components.
Accurist became the first watch company to actively promote the 21 JEWEL lever-movement and Accurist 21 JEWELS became the Company Slogan setting a standard in watches that was later to be followed by many of its competitors.
In the 1960's a watch was seen as a single purchase for life. Accurist were more progressive and introduced fashion into watches and became leaders in the concept of a "watch wardrobe". They also advertised during "Sunday Night at the London Palladium", the biggest television show at that time. Accurist watches became fashionable and were worn by Twiggy, Princess Anne and The Beatles.
In the 1970's Accurist supplied the watches for all Concorde pilots. In 1978 they launched a TV advertising campaign featuring John Cleese that won many awards.
Since 1986 Accurist has been the sole sponsor of the BT speaking clock and in 1993 they gifted a new atomic clock to the Greenwich Observatory.
